Undoubtedly, Donna Summer loved singing more than acting; her only serious role was in the movie “Thank God It’s Friday”. I have no idea why she chose to do a couple of cameos on “Family Matters”, but I’m sure glad she did! Aunt Oona’s “singing in church” definitely showcases Donna’s Gospel music roots!
This song was so cutting edge when it first came out! In this video, a live band attempts to simulate the synthesized sounds of the song:
The band does it’s best to imitate the synthesized sound of this song, but it comes off as more of a jazz version to me. Donna introduces the band members (starting with her sisters!) and then breaks into a delightful dance, the spirit within her shining so brightly!
